Some months back in May, it launched an Augmented Reality feature in Search that helps users view 3D anatomy models and cellular structures. Very soon you will be able to solve math problems by just clicking a simple photo using Google Lens.

The technology behind this new feature is from a mobile learning app named Socratic, which was acquired by Google last year.

When the feature is finally rolled out all you got to do is simply click a picture of the math problem from your material and highlight the equation or a particular problem that you can’t comprehend and then in real-time get step-by-step solutions and even detailed explainers for the same.

The main idea behind this feature is to make make it easier for students to look up mathematical problems as there is a need for them to understand the concepts and applications behind them. There isn’t an official release date announced by Google yet but the Socratic app is available on Android as well as iOS.

Along with this, regarding the 3D models, Google has announced that nearly 100 STEM-related objects are now available on Search. For example, say you searched for a ‘Quantum Mechanical model” there will be a #D atom model that is superimposed against your own environment.

Jennifer Holland, Google’s Director of Program Management for Education, has also brought to light other tools that are helpful to students who need to study from home owing to the pandemic. She also mentioned Read Along, which could help foster kids’ love for reading. Features such as Google Meet’s live caption and a smart speaker feature known as Family Bell helps keep students on track by announcing when its time to take a break and when it’s time for commencement of an online class.
